Garnet-red in colour with an aroma reminiscent of wild berries, raspberry and blackberry. Compact, elegant, fruity and spicy. The demanding and beguiling Pinot Noir grape thrives in the cool yet sunny vineyards of Eppan and Kaltern yielding a structured wine with elegant fullness. Strikingly similar to a Burgundian Pinot.

Vinification:

Pinot grapes are hand harvested from end-September to mid-October. The South/southeast facing vineyards are located in Eppan and Kaltern (400 to 550 m a.s.l) with moraine debris and limestone gravel soils. Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation and aging in large wood barrels.

My family and I found this quite sharp - like an imbalance of red currant versus raspberry - even after 30 minutes after opening. It was also stony dry - so quite a challenge, even for a Pinot die-hard like me. The sharpness dropped off on day 2 and 3 after being opened, which I hadn't expected. Not quite enjoyable enough to order again.
